Puppy Kindergarten
Puppies under 6 months
This class is offered for puppies less than 6 months old as an opportunity to properly socialize puppies and begin to establish basic house manners, such as; housebreaking, puppy biting, chewing, digging, barking, jumping up etc. Owners will also receive important health information for their puppy as it grows into an adult.
Proper socialization is key to your puppy becoming a confident and happy adulthood. This class will offer socialization exercises just for puppies, practice exercises to teach your puppy proper house manners, and provide owners with information to guide their puppy to a successful and healthy adulthood.
Beginners Obedience
Any dog 6 months and older
This class is offered for all dogs 6 months and older as an introduction to proper house manners and basic commands of dog obedience. Skills taught are: sit, down, come when called, controlled walking on the leash, sit-stay, down-stay, and basic manners such as: jumping, barking, chewing, etc.
Intermediate Obedience
Any dog that has completed The Dogwood Beginner Class
This class continues where Beginners Obedience left off and is essential to getting the well behaved family pet each person is looking for. Dogs will continue solidifying the skills they began to learn in Beginners, but through different and fun exercises to help keep the dog and owner entertained while they learn! By the end of Intermediate dog class, most dogs are doing their sit-stays, down-stays, and recalls off leash.
Advanced Obedience
Any dog that has completed The Dogwood Intermediate Class
Advanced obedience is for those owners looking to build a close and meaningful relationship with their dog. It's also used as the introduction to competition obedience. Advanced obedience utilizes more complex exercise that are used in competition, but also to continue building on the skills dogs have learned in intermediate and beginners.
Conformation for Beginners
Any person new to the showing of dogs
This class helps the novice conformation handler learn the skills necessary to present their dog to a dog show judge in the best manner possible. Handlers will learn how to properly stack, move, and bait their dog according to their breed's standard.
Conformation Practice Class
Any dog/handler team that is in need of show dog practice
Conformation Practice Class is for handler and dog teams that are looking simply for "mat" time or practice time with a "judge" in a show ring type venue. Dogs will be stacked, examined, and gaited by a "judge."
Open Obedience
Open Obedience is for dogs in competition obedience or rally that include dog jumps, down on recalls, retrieving, out of sight sit and downs. Dogs working in this class are pursuing their CDX in AKC obedience.
